This remote camp is located on Churchman Island — on the beautiful Wapawekka Lake in North Central Saskatchewan. Accessible only by boat, we are truly at the edge of the world.
The lake is located on the Deschambault River system, which links up with the Churchill river system by portage through the south east corner of Lac La Ronge. This place is right in the middle of one of Western Canada's busiest pre-industrialized trade routes — itself thousands of years old.
Churchman Island is located in the East narrows portion of Wapawekka. To the south resides the Wapawekka Hills, Saskatchewan's 2nd highest land mass — known to local natives as the thunder hills. To the north, the massive Canadian Shield. We are smack dab in the middle of two major geological formations.
